Sie waren eine der einflussreichsten Rock-Bands der 2000er, jetzt sind sie Geschichte: The White Stripes haben sich getrennt. Zurück bleiben jede Menge Hits, wovon einer leider zur Stadion- und Ballermann-Hymne verkümmert ist.

Auf der Seite der Band findet man eine längere Erklärung zur Trennung, wichtig erscheinen uns aber folgende Passagen:

"The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live. ...The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor ant health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health...It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way."

Es gibt also keine Platten mehr, die zwei mögen sich immer noch und man kann davon ausgehen, dass sie in ein paar Jahren bei der Reunion wieder die Stadien füllen.

Zum Abschied die Eingangs erwähnte Stadionhymne, wei sie einfach doch gut klingt und der Clip großartig ist!
