Singer Giulio Calvino of Italian three piece Hot Gossip told us some interesting details about their new  album You Look Faster When You Are Young.

One of your songs is called What We Are. Would you say this song is about you and what you are? Why do you think we look faster when we are young?

It’s a phrase that actually doesn’t mean anything, but gives a picture, the picture is that today young kids are pushed to a faster life from the lifestyle their parents are undertaking.
Today’s society is leaving far less options to those parents nowadays, but there are alternatives that one should take into consideration.

On the other side, kids tend to be faster in learning, developing, it’s the beauty of the creation of a full grown  human being, and the process is fast and interesting. The record is about these things.

What was the funniest gossip you have ever heard about Hot Gossip?

Once some stalker on a forum wrote that our drummer was dead. he wasn’t, but we were all worried because we haven’t heard from him in a while, his phone was off since days… then we called his mother and found out that he was alive but he had lost his mobile phone.

If you wanted to make a mix tape for us, which bands would have to be on it?

Moondog, cat power, the oh sees, coachwips, the intelligence, twisted charm, sweep the leg johnny, brainiac, the ex models, trumans water, unsane, jesus lizard, dent may and his magnificent ukulele, the weakends, dock boggs, little richard, little walter, toots and the maytals.This playlist is made quoting monty python’s meaning of life “i’ll have everything mixed up in a bucket and don’t skip on the paté”. We are big fans of the Monty Pyton.

Which has been the most haunting moment for you (happy, sad, whatever) with Hot Gossip?

I still remember vividly when Juliette Lewis hugged me after a pretty unforgettable gig together.
I think we are living haunting moments all the time, it’s just that they become haunting after a while, when the memory filter does it’s process, leaving some things behind, and bringing the interesting stuff back. My memory filter is pretty intense, i tend to forget everything, but then on the long term i remember so many details.
