Da freut sich die Welt: Portugal. The Man haben wieder eine neue Platte am Start.Die meisten Bands brauchen für ein neues Album knapp zwei Jahre. Anders liegt der Fall bei Portugal. The Man: Die legen nur sechs Monate nach Satan´s Satanist frisches Material nach - ganz im Sinne ihrer Fans und einfach so, weil sie mal wieder verdammt kreativ waren in letzter Zeit.

Das bedeutet: Die neue Platte American Ghetto wird vor ihrer Veröffentlichung nicht erst durch die Hände von Promotern und Pressemenschen wandern, sondern erst am 2. März zu haben sein. Für alle, ohne Vorzugsbehandlung.

"Nobody gets the record early; we will not be soliciting reviews, airplay or any support from the industry. It is up to you to tweet about `American Ghetto´ or to share or to send friends to buy. If you want to write/blog/play American Ghetto, March 2nd is your opportunity. It will be the same for everyone. We love all of you very much and appreciate every bit of the support. It means everything and exists only with your continued support. This album is yours, we will be doing a handful of these throughout the future of the band."
